FARM will look at the origins of agriculture on each continent and demonstrate how we learn about the past from archaeological sites over 12,000 years old.
The exhibits of the past will look at an example archaeological site, study dating techniques which help us place the past in context, and learn about the advent of writing as it pertains to the record-keeping needs of agriculture. A timeline of agriculture will bring us from these prehistoric sites through to the current status of farmers all over the world.
The continents will be explored in individual rooms with large physical feature map floors, music of the area and cross-cultural cooking classes.
- Why did agriculture begin?
- Was it population pressure?
- Changes in climatic conditions?
- A need to have a varied food supply?
These questions will be analyzed for each area of the world so we can learn how we have attained the state of agriculture we are experiencing today.
Further studies will look into the future of agricultural development and economics for the world and how they affect each of us on an individual level.
